Description Schrödinger's salt & pepper shaker

The most famous cat in the world is not an internet phenomenon, but the imaginary cat of physicist Erwin Schrödinger (1887-1961). His famous thought experiment, which has gone down in history as Schrödinger's cat, is about a quantum mechanical paradox in which a cat in a closed box is brought into a state in which it is simultaneously alive and dead. This state remains until the box is opened.

Schrödinger's salt and pepper shakers are basically about the same thing - only the cat is replaced by spices for reasons of animal welfare. At first glance, the two shakers appear (almost) identical, so the only way to decide whether there is salt or pepper inside is by sprinkling. A short text on the back also explains the physical principles at work in the seemingly trivial tilting of the shakers.

But how do you make sure you don't accidentally ruin your food with the wrong spice? As with many things, it's worth taking a closer look at Schrödinger's shakers: The colored markings on the shakers and the slightly different labeling(salt and pepper vs. pepper and salt) let you know exactly what's in which shaker. But you don't have to tell your guests that directly... ;)
